I got up around 9am. We ate a quick breakfast and after surveying the beach, changed into our swim wear.

I asked for Fer again, even though he was still at home. The locals were very accommodating and gives in to every whim of their guests. I just have to say that our stay was more delightful because of the locals. They know how to entertain and take care of their guests. It is evident that they know the value of tourism in their city.

After another hour, my instructor was saying that I could already ride the waves by myself. Thus, Joedex & I extended for another hour without an instructor. I fell at lost without Fer. Haha! There was something off with my wave-spotting and timing so the 1 hour extension was spent paddling, paddling, and paddling and falling off every so often. Joedex and I had to surrender after a while.

When I come back, I'll still ask for Fer, even if it's just to tell me when the waves are already coming in our direction and to signal that I have to paddle already.

We had lunch in Tita Marie's again. She has a hunk of a son, based on the pictures we saw. We're planning to stay on her resort on our next visit as she is a very accommodating host and was very nice to us every time we come to her 2-week old establishment.

After checking out the other resorts, it was time to say goodbye to the beach.

La Union, we'll be back! For sure!

Sebay Surf Resort
San Juan, La Union
Sept. 20, 2008

We set out for La Union by 12nn. Had some delays along the way. To kill time, we went to SM Pampanga. We ate lunch and watched a movie.

Around 5pm, we were ready to set out for the road again. We arrived late that night in the resort. Luckily, there was a vacant room we can stay for the night.

Come morning, we ate breakfast and changed into our beach clothes, ready for the adventure. The surf board rentals plus instructor costs P400 per hour. We had to haggle and paid P1,400 for the four of us.

I must say that my instructor, Fernando, was really good. 8 years of surfing has given him enough experience, even if he's 5 years younger than me. We caught the waves while Joedex, Reyjoe & Danica were patiently waiting for their turns. One hour, plus several extra minutes, was enough to enjoy surfing. At the end of the session, my arms were so tired (paddle, paddle, paddle) but we planned to have another session in the afternoon.

We had lunch and tried playing different card games while we waited for the clock to strike 3. By that time, we were ready to flex our muscles once again, try our balancing skills and just enjoy the sport.

Dinner in a different resort followed. We originally wanted to drink by the shore but it rained a bit so we settled in a covered area instead.

Tequila rose, drinking games, chit-chat and bonding til the wee hours of the morning.

We can still feel the waves as we lie in bed.

2nd day of our family outing

Lunch at Meat Plus, checked out Jungle Joe after.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The concept is nice, reusing the old barges made by the Americans when they still inhabited the place. There's a beach inside, which is open on Saturdays and Sundays. Kids would have a lot of fun here!

However, a lot of work still needs to be done to the amusement park. Only 4 barges have been renovated and are currently functional. I'd recommend a visit here perhaps after a year or so. By then, hopefully, the plans are already implemented.

Family outing

It's been three or four years already since our last family outing in Palawan. Good thing Daddy had a day or two to spare for a trip to the beach.

That Labor Day morning, we decided to go to Punta De Uian in San Antonio, Zamabales. We tried to reserve the family villa but was informed, while we were already on our way, that it was taken already.

We went to Subic to see if we can find a good place to stay in. Mom and dad already wanted to stay within SBMA but we insisted otherwise. We still tried our luck with Punta De Uian but to no avail.

We drove a few kilometers more and found the Pandaquit resorts. It's not that bad at all. The rooms were reasonably priced and the staff were quite friendly so we decided to settle. Ours was the first among the resorts lined up in the beach and this area of Zambales is virtually undiscovered yet, which meant that we almost had the beach to ourselves.

We had lunch in one of the cottages near the shore. Afterwards, we changed into our swimming clothes and went to go island hopping. We visited Camara, Capones, Anawangin. I have long wanted to visit Anawangin because of the raves I have been hearing about it. We just took pics from the first two islands and stayed longer in Anawangin, with its fine sand and picturesque lake and pine trees.

When evening was already approaching, we headed back to the resort. Kim, Kathleen and I stayed in the sands before I joined Katrina and Kenneth who are enjoying the crystal clear waters tremendously.

Dinner was a feast since everyone was hungry and tired from the day's activities. We slept for a while but Kenneth and I went to the shores with a bottle of red wine, our glasses and some food at hand. We lay under the night sky, enjoying the assembly of stars above us. Kim, Kathleen and Katrina also wanted to star gaze but were too deep in slumber for us to bother.

Mom, Dad, Kenneth and I went to swim the morning after. There were a lot of people this time since our resort was the venue of a company teambuilding. At around 11 am, we were all set to leave.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
I just realized once again, how blessed I am to have this beautiful family. As with any other, there will always be trials and obstacles but we have gotten past them for the last 23 years.

I am glad that with this trip, I got closer to my siblings, that they are able to open up and share with me their thoughts and feelings. I am glad we are just be able to enjoy each other's company.

I am thankful that my parents are still like teenagers, holding hands while walking and being sweet to one another every so often.

Overall, this beach trip with my family is priceless. "Til our next family outing!

Rai texted me around 7 am telling me that they’re going to get breakfast already. Wanting to get plenty of rest, JOedex, MC and I got up at 8:30 am. Just in time, since breakfast will be served only until 9am. This is my favorite meal since they offered a lot of choices. We ate pancakes, eggs, fried rice, longanisa, beef tapa and some ripe mangoes. Sulit, in fairness!

The tide was up so we were able to enjoy the salty waters of Laiya. Our lunch for the day was in the other pavilion. We couldn’t resist but to take as much pictures as we can in the 2nd level of the pavilion, given its amazing view. We ate lunch only to find out as we were about to finish that they were also serving lechon. Joedex got a generous serving, which we were not able to finish. Tsk tsk!

After lunch, we went to the so-called White Beach. We had to ride a jeepney courtesy of the resort. It was a bumpy and dirty ride but the other beach was worth the effort anyway. They are still developing the property. I’m guessing that once this gets finished, it would attract more customers since they have the nature trail and flying fox ride here.

The nature trail was okay, took some pictures while we were at it. The flying fox was worth trying. It’s like the rapel we did in Subic, only this time, it was just from one station to another. MC kept screaming before going for it. Joyce’ fingers got stuck in the brake that she kicked Manong upon landing. It was quite a thrill. (We each have a video for this ride.)

Click, click click! while waiting for the jeepney. We went back to the resort, packed, and got clean. Soon enough, we had to go home. This is where our vacation ends.

Bye Laiya! I wonder where we are headed next.

Laiya Coco Grove
April 6 - 7, 2008

Finally, my batchmates in CdSP were able to put together an out of town trip. One that is far far away from Merryland, the resort where we usually meet up in the past years. Too bad, some were not able to join us. Just the same, the trip had been fun, fun, fun!

Joedex, MC and I came from Laguna. We spent the night at Joedex' house in San Pablo, Laguna. His mom was so warm to welcome us in her house. His sister also was kind enough to let us sleep in her room for the night. Tita Mercy served us breakfast and "kapeng barako," complete with a handful of stories, that we barely felt the morning turning into noon.

We left thier house at around 11:30am. We arrived a little past 1pm. Rai, Joe and Joyce weren't there yet so we decided to eat lunch ahead of them. The lunch buffet wasn't that good, t'was hardly palatable. I even caught myself wishing that our meals for the rest of our stay will not be as bad as this.

We went around the resort while waiting for the rest of the gang. We took some pictures by the beach (which are still missing, pics courtesy of MC’s camera) and jumped like kids in the trampoline. A few more minutes passed, Rai, Joyce and Joe arrived. We checked into our rooms, rested for a while then they ate their lunch.

Later in the afternoon, we went to the shore only to find out that it’s low tide so there’s no beach for us to enjoy. We took pics before playing beach volleyball. Rai and MC vs. Joedex and Alyne! Had fun playing volley ball again, just like old times. I must say my performance improved. If only my luck was like this during our HS Intrams!!!

After seeing that our arms are getting bruises because of the buko-like ball, we decided to end the game. We just walked along the shores and reached the nearby beaches. It was already evening when we decided to head back to the resort for dinner.

Dinner was better than our lunch. We stayed in the table for a couple of hours, chatting about our elementary and high school days. It was such a joy to remember our carefree years together. Ultimate bonding session! We talked and laughed until we realized that were the only ones left in the dining area.

We still dipped in the pool that night, played Monkey in the Middle. Everyone had a turn to be the monkey, but Raissa set the record for being the monkey the longest. We got tired. I still did a couple of laps before lying in the pool to watch the stars. Soon after, we decided to call it a night.

Now, this is quite interesting..

What Krystalyne Mendoza Guinto Means

You are a seeker of knowledge, and you have learned many things in your life. You are also a keeper of knowledge - meaning you don't spill secrets or spread gossip. People sometimes think you're snobby or aloof, but you're just too deep in thought to pay attention to them.

You are wild, crazy, and a huge rebel. You're always up to something. You have a ton of energy, and most people can't handle you. You're very intense. You definitely are a handful, and you're likely to get in trouble. But your kind of trouble is a lot of fun.

You are a free spirit, and you resent anyone who tries to fence you in. You are unpredictable, adventurous, and always a little surprising. You may miss out by not settling down, but you're too busy having fun to care.

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know. You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life. You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home. You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.  You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people. You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts. You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone. You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together. At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated. You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want. You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

You are balanced, orderly, and organized. You like your ducks in a row. You are powerful and competent, especially in the workplace. People can see you as stubborn and headstrong. You definitely have a dominant personality.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you. At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

You are incredibly wise and perceptive. You have a lot of life experience. You are a natural peacemaker, and you are especially good at helping others get along. But keeping the peace in your own life is not easy. You see things very differently, and it's hard to get you to budge.

You are deeply philosophical and thoughtful. You tend to analyze every aspect of your life. You are intuitive, brilliant, and quite introverted. You value your time alone. Often times, you are grumpy with other people. You don't appreciate them trying to interfere in your affairs.

You are a very lucky person. Things just always seem to go your way. And because you're so lucky, you don't really have a lot of worries. You just hope for the best in life.
You're sometimes a little guilty of being greedy. Spread your luck around a little to people who need it.

You tend to be pretty tightly wound. It's easy to get you excited... which can be a good or bad thing. You have a lot of enthusiasm, but it fades rather quickly. You don't stick with any one thing for very long. You have the drive to accomplish a lot in a short amount of time. Your biggest problem is making sure you finish the projects you start.

I had to sell my mobile phone to get a new one. I had to download its contents to save the images I took and stored in it. Here are some of the pics I took that I just had to save.

Valentine's day last year, he gave me a bouquet of flowers. I loved them. Week after week, he would visit me at work so we could have lunch together. Whenever he drops by, he constantly brings me a bunch of blooms. I appreciate his thoughtfulness in wanting to give me something to smile about, plus his efforts of driving from Laguna to Dangwa to Makati and then, personally handing it to me the day after. Even my officemates anticipate the flowers that he'll bring and admire them when they arrive.

He had been so consistent that even if we were already together, he still brings me these beautiful things. He said he wants me to feel like he’s still courting me, at that time. However, when I left my previous company for a new job, the flowers stopped coming.

Now, he cooks for me almost everyday. Excellent cooking, I must say! Now, that’s way better than flowers. I’m one lucky girl… =)

It was quite a stressful week due to the IMC Competition and Ad Congress. I had to rack my brains for a gimik and prepare ahead of time what to do for his birthday. I really wanted to make him feel special on this day..

Quasi-gift at 12mn, Cake at 8am, hidden gifts, puzzle and a birthday dinner at Spiral, Sofitel. A treat for this food-lover!

He said he was impressed, i'm glad.. Mission accomplished!

Had to leave for Subic at 3am the day after! Stress again!
